One firefighter was injured in the operation and a hoist rescue was conducted to safely retrieve and transport to the hospital. The firefighter sustained non-life threatening injuries and was in fair condition on transport. Any questions regarding the cliff rescue victim are referring to LAPD Harbor Div Inc#1612. Heavy equipment is responding to help pull apart the piles to ensure the fire is completely extinguished. The tall piles of cardboard can continue to hold heat despite no visible flames and require extensive overhaul operations. No further updates are anticipated. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1383; 08:37PM; 240 E 57th St; https://bit.ly/3gTBrm9; South Park; Seventy-four LAFD firefighters battled a blaze in a one-story commercial blaze containing a marijuana grow operation. After firefighters transitioned back to defensive operations, there was a partial roof/mezzanine collapse inside, where debris initially hindered firefighters from fully extinguishing all hot spots within the rubble. LAFD USAR specialists on scene provided expertise for firefighters to safely and cautiously move into position to finish extinguishing the remaining burning materials. Firefighters achieved final extinguishment 84 minutes after the time of alarm. No reported injuries.
