Further investigation discovered a detached garage with obvious signs of a explosion (cause unknown at this time). One person was located in the vicinity of the home with burn injuries but is not cooperating with firefighters/paramedics for evaluation. There is no active fire but crews will be overhauling the structure to ensure no smoldering hot spots remain. Building and Safety is responding for the evaluation and occupancy determination of the structure. So Cal Gas is responding to assist in the investigation. LAFD Arson is responding for the investigation. 9-1-1 call was received at 8:03AM. The rapid deployment of large diameter handlines to defend the exposed buildings successfully prevented the fire from extending into the exposed structures although there is exterior damage. The two (vacant) single family dwellings were fully involved. LAFD Arson investigators are responding for the cause investigation. Fire consumed approximately half of the house before firefighters mounted a rapid and coordinated attack between interior hose lines and rooftop ventilation to quickly snuff it out.
