The was quickly extinguished and did not extend into the structure of the building. 79 firefighters were assigned to the incident, however the first responding companies achieved knockdown before the additional resources were requested. The cause of the fire TBD. No injuries reported. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1258; 09:56PM; 2219 S Gaffey St; https://bit.ly/2H6K4f7; San Pedro; Initial reports of someone possibly inside the burning structure proved to be false. All persons have been accounted for according to bystanders (and LAFD search was clear). 30 LAFD firefighters extinguished the fire, which destroyed a secondary house to the rear of the property, in 31 minutes, while protecting nearby homes on either side.
