Update #60thStreetFire Greater Alarm Civilian Fatality Structure Fire; INC#1098; 05:20PM; 1001 E 60th St; https://bit.ly/3jX1ydi; Florence; The remains of one adult male civilian have been discovered by LAFD Firefighters during their rigorous search of the heavily damaged fire building. Witnesses describe the man as one of two employees who ran into the burning building prior to LAFD arrival, the other person having quickly returned to outdoor safety, uninjured. No other civilian injuries or missing persons have been reported. The one injured LAFD firefighter, injured in a 4 foot fall from a ladder, is receiving medical attention for his non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. Firefighters will remain at scene this evening to overhaul smoldering debris, physically assist the Coroner's staff, and support the still active fire cause investigation by LAFD Investigators. A positive identification of the deceased man, as well as the cause, time and manner of his death, will be determined by the Coroner.
