Update Fire Fatality - Structure Fire; INC#0282; 06:55AM; 500 W 157th St; https://bit.ly/2U5o86R; Harbor Gateway; While firefighters were conducting an aggressive interior fire attack, crews simultaneously performed a search to determine if any victims were trapped in the structure as reported. Sadly, firefighters located a deceased person in one of the rooms. Both LAFD Arson Section and LAPD are responding for the investigation per protocol for a fatality. LAFD PIO Firefighter David Ortiz is enroute to the incident for media availability. The identity and cause of death of the victim will be handled by LA County Coroner. Age/gender of the victim is undetermined at this time. The 28 firefighters assigned to the incident extinguished the fire in 21 minutes with no additional injuries reported.
