Update Extinguished Buses On Fire; INC#1431; 09:27PM; 9610 S Sky Wy; http://bit.ly/35NX7ZZ; Westchester; LAFD crews arrived quickly near the LAX-it (Uber, Lyft and Taxi departure) facility at Los Angeles International Airport to find two large (empty, parked and what were initially described by responders as) liquid propane powered passenger buses fully involved with fire, with flames threatening and causing some damage to a third bus parked nearby. It took the first arriving 25 firefighters less than 20 minutes to fully extinguish the flames. It was later determined the buses were powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). There are no injuries, and no subsequent hazards identified. Though the fire's cause remains under investigation, there is NO reason to consider it suspicious at this time. The LAX-it facility was temporarily closed due to emergency operations, but has partially reopened. Those preparing to exit LAX Airport via Uber/Lyft or Taxi, are asked to follow the directions of uniformed LAX staff, as they seek to assist those departing the airport, until the LAX-it facility can fully reopen.
