Knockdown - Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#1181; 06:24PM; 1306 N Highland Av; https://bit.ly/3ZamV0o; #Hollywood; It took the combined effort of 124 LAFD Firefighters a little more than two hours in largely defensive firefighting operations to fully extinguish intense flames that destroyed an AutoZone automotive parts store, and caused heavy damage to a pair of adjoining restaurants (Fat Sal's Deli, and Sushi Ajito) in an L-shaped one-story strip mall. No injuries reported. Though initial 9-1-1 callers described an "explosive fire" they believed to have involved a "battery" within the automotive parts store, the specific cause of the fire remains the focus of an active Fire Department investigation. #LATraffic: Full closure of northbound and southbound Highland Avenue between DeLongpre Avenue and Lexington Avenue, as well as a full closure of eastbound and westbound Fountain Avenue at Highland Avenue will continue until LAFD operations are complete.
