KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0279; 05:03AM; 417 S Colyton St; https://bit.ly/3KNeXCF; #DowntownLA; Firefighters responded to a one-story commercial building with heavy fire inside, threatening an adjacent three-story residential apartment building. Fire crews engaged in a defensive fire fight (from the exterior). Crews ascended ladders to the roof and (defensively) cut strips in the roof (trench cut) to limit the horizontal spread. Firefighters set up heavy streams, including 2.5-inch hand lines, portable monitors, and wagon batteries (deck guns). Ultimately, 98 firefighters skillfully contained the intense fire to only the unit of origin, and extinguished the flames in 47 minutes. No damage was sustained by the adjacent buildings. No reported injuries.
