John Anglin has been serving since 2014 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund and as the organization’s Secretary. He was born in Boston and grew up in Los Angeles. He graduated from USC in 1969 and USC School of Law in 1972. Mr. Anglin is a partner in the Pasadena law firm of Anglin Flewelling Rasmussen Campbell & Trytten, LLP, where he specializes in corporate and real estate law. He has served as a director of public companies, privately-held companies, and other non-profit entities.
Richard J. Barrett has been serving since 2007 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund and has served as the organization’s President since its inception. He was born in Chicago and has lived in California since 1986. He received a BA in 1971 and MBA in 1977 from Harvard University. He also served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy from 1972 to 1975. Mr. Barrett retired from business in 2011, but had 34-year career as an investment banker specializing in Financial Institutions.
John C. Bowlin has been serving since 2022. He was born in Forth Worth, Texas, and received his BA in Economics from The University of Texas in 1990 and his MBA from Pepperdine University in 1997. Upon graduation, he served for 5 years as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. In 1996 he founded, Rent-A-Wheel, a new venture in the automobile tire and wheel industry, specializing in an innovative approach to automotive retail financing. John serves as a trustee for the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation and is on the alumni advisory board for the University of Texas College of Liberal Arts.
B. James Ford has been serving since 2019 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund. He has a BA from UCLA 1991 and his MBA 1996 from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is currently a Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships at the Los Angeles 2028, the cadidature committee for the Olympic Games bid. Prior to 2016 Mr. Ford was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of Oaktree's Global Principal Group. He also serves as an active member of the board of directors of the Children's Bureau.
Jay Langan has been serving since 2020 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund. As President of Ocean Media, Mr. Langan is involved in account strategy, management, and agency growth. Since joining the agency in 2002, he has been responsible for helping launch and manage accounts such as Overstock.com, Care.com, Etsy, CarGurus, BetMGM, Rakuten, Mint Mobile, and Realtor.com. The agency has experienced tremendous growth over the years and the client success has been the most rewarding part of the process. Prior to joining Ocean Media, he spent eight years in multimedia sales in NY City. Jay was a sales manager at Bloomberg where he sold and developed integrated media packages for brands such as Fidelity, Jaguar, Microsoft, and IBM. At Bloomberg, he worked with agencies across the country, including Ocean Media, on the launch of Priceline in 1998. He is a graduate of Boston College.
Andrew R. McDonald has been serving since 2019 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund. He is the President of the West Region for Cushman & Wakefield. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the firms' operations and business lines in CA, TX, CO, AZ, WA, OR, NV, and Utah. Mr. McDonald has been a frequent guest lecturer at the Marshall School of Business at USC. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Hospital Medical Ctr., as well as The LA Coalition, whose mission is to help create quality jobs throughout the LA Region.
Brian Sullivan has been serving since 2018 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund. Brian was raised in Los Angeles. He receeived his BS from Northwestern University in 1993 and his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC 1997. Mr Sullivan was Founder and Managing Director of ForwardLine Financial and Founder of Rolling Oaks Enterprises. He is a Director for the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at USC.
Molly Dee Taylor has been serving since 2015 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund and as the organizations' Treasurer since 2021. Molly was born and raised in Ohio and has lived in the Los Angeles area since 1980. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1974. Ms. Taylor worked for almost 40 years as an Advertising/Media Executive and retired in 2013. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital.
Jim Vincent has been serving since 2020 as a director of the LAFD Scholarship Fund. Jim was born in Santa Barbara, California. He graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University and spent the first five years of his career working for a New York based commercial real estate firm. In December of 1998, he accepted a position in institutional sales at Sanford Bernstein, and went on to be named one of the youngest ever managing directors running the Boston office. Later he was promoted to Senior Vice President and put in charge of the Western region, and currently Co runs institutional sales in the US. He has served on the LA Board of the Posse Foundation helping support merit based college scholarships for leadership oriented youth.
Karen Wicke has served as a director on the LAFD Scholarship Fund since 2024. A native Angelino, she graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1985 and the Anderson School of Management at UCLA in 1990. Her career has been primarily in the energy industry, in both human resources and management roles, currently as the President of Pearson-Sibert Oil Company. Karen's volunteer work has been in support of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the PTAs of her sons' local schools.
