Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0209; 04:54AM; 1108 W Santa Cruz St; https://bit.ly/4rUAi0r; San Pedro; Two-story, single-family Craftsman home with heavy fire initially showing -- one neighboring home was also impinged upon, with heavy fire showing shortly after fire department arrival. Firefighters operated at both homes in the offensive mode, coordinating roof and interior operations. A broken gas line was found leaking pressurized gas during suppression operations -- line was shut down and the hazard mitigated. During a search, one dog was located in the primary home, alive and well, and returned to the occupants. Knockdown declared in 32 minutes with 47 firefighters working on scene. No reported injuries. Firefighters forced entry through a rolling steel door to expose the bulk of the interior fire, allowing suppression to proceed quickly. Knockdown imminent with no other structures threatened. UPDATE Vehicle into Structure - Multiple Fatalities; INC#0816; 12:11PM; 1360 S Westwood Bl; https://bit.ly/4tlgzIE; Westwood; Update 3:10PM - All three persons killed at this scene (55M/42F/30M) were confirmed to be inside the grocery store's bakery at the time of the accident. Two patients (35M/35M) were transported in critical condition, and two patients (38M/37M) were transported in fair condition. Both the bicyclist initially struck and the driver of the vehicle declined LAFD treatment and hospital transport. LADBS has yellow-tagged the building due to the damage sustained, but concluded there is no ongoing structural instability. UPDATE Vehicle into Structure - Multiple Fatalities; INC#0816; 12:11PM; 1360 S Westwood Bl; https://bit.ly/4tlgzIE; Westwood; Update 1:45PM - Three people confirmed deceased on the scene of this accident; four patients (two in at least serious condition, two with minor injuries) have been transported to local hospitals; two have signed out against medical advice on scene. LAPD states this is not being considered an intentional collision; the driver of the silver sedan has preliminarily been identified as an elderly female.
