The Los Angeles Fire Department is a highly regimented agency that incorporates both paramilitary structure and command principles. Neighborhood Fire Stations are organized into groups, known as Battalions.

In daily command of the LAFD's "Battalion 4" is one Battalion Chief overseeing all personnel assigned to seven Neighborhood Fire Stations in a 23 square mile district:

There are three Battalion Chiefs assigned to Battalion 4. They work on the same rotating Platoon Duty schedule as the Neighborhood Firefighters they command. These Battalion Chiefs answer directly to an Assistant Chief of the Department.

For the quickest emergency help from any Battalion 4 responder, always call: 9-1-1

Most local non-emergency matters, such as reporting a fire hazard can be quickly handled by contacting your Neighborhood Fire Station via 3-1-1.

To discuss an administrative issue or express concerns of a community-wide nature within the jurisdiction of Battalion 4, please contact the on-duty Battalion Chief:

    In Los Angeles: 3-1-1
    In Southern California: (866) 4-LACITY
