KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0939; 02:27PM; 2411 S Alma St; https://bit.ly/3Ti6Gdk; #SanPedro; Firefighters arrived to find a 1,946 sq-ft single-story home (built in 1919) with smoke showing from the attic vents. Firefighters discovered a fire, which appeared to have started in the kitchen near cooking equipment, and traveled through a concealed space and into the attic. Crews ascended ladders to the roof to ventilate from above, as other crews accessed the attic with hose lines through the ceiling from inside. It took 32 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the attic fire. Firefighters rescued two dogs while performing an interior search. Functional smoke alarms alerted both residents promptly, and the 92-year-old female and 90-year-old male were able to safely escape. One of the occupants of the home (90-M) was assessed by paramedics out of an abundance of caution, and found to be in good condition (no hospital transport or further care needed).
