Firefighters located the tree in a larger area of rubbish and located one deceased person. Circumstances around the death are unclear at this time and will be investigated, per protocol by LAFD Arson and LAPD (Inc# 0587). Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1186; 03:25PM; 9010 N Tobias Av; https://bit.ly/407wziA; Panorama City; KNOCKDOWN: 44 firefighters (prior to the arrival of additionally requested resources) extinguished the fire in 33 minutes with no injuries reported. Crews contained the fire to one unit on the 2nd floor (of three occupied floors over parking in the combined center-hall / garden style building) but there was heavy smoke on the floor which will likely leave at least the adjacent unit uninhabitable. Firefighters deployed a ground ladder to a unit on the 2nd floor, two units down from the involved unit, to safely assist an occupant down. There are no patients with any medical complaints. The primary and secondary search of the involved unit is clear. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0504; 09:19AM; 550 S Vermont Av; https://bit.ly/491h4Od; Koreatown; KNOCKDOWN: 64 firefighters on scene extinguished fire located in the basement of a 12 story commercial building under renovation in 33 minutes with no injuries reported. Work was underway in the elevator shaft and it is believed sparks fell down into rubbish in the basement. Firefighters ascended the stairwell up to the roof and are now assisting in ventilation efforts to clear the building of smoke. Firefighters are also completing a thorough search on each floor looking for both occupants and any fire extension which will be an extended duration operation due to the size of the building (and lack of functioning HVAC system to assist). Traffic will be heavily impacted at S Vermont x W 6th and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes through Koreatown.
