HIGHLAND PARK-

Firefighters quickly and effectively extinguished three commercial units with fire involvement, saving an adjoining business.

On May 17, 2017 at 4:37pm, the Los Angeles Fire Department was notified of a structure fire at 5120 E. York Blvd in Highland Park, where crews found heavy smoke billowing from the building.  Three businesses share a common attic and fire quickly spread throughout and into the units causing further damage.

The quick and effective actions by 88 LAFD firefighters stopped the flames and further extension to an adjoining business, in just 29 minutes.  One person with unknown affiliation was found outside the building and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As is typical protocol, LAFD arson investigators were called to the scene and the cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
