LAFD Battles Major Emergency Structure Fire in Tarzana

Friday, February 17, 2017

Tarzana - Over 125 Los Angeles Firefighters battled an early morning, non-injury, Major Emergency Structure Fire in a commercial building Saturday.

Fighters were alerted at 2:30 AM and quickly arrived to 18629 Topham Street to find a two-story commercial building, 200' x 100' with fire showing through the roof. Additional firefighters were quickly requested.

Firefighters utilized large hose streams from the exterior, and poured water in the massive structure. Firefighters then carefully transitioned from a defensive fight, and allowed two hand-lines to make an interior attack and ensure full extinguishment. Over 125 firefighters, under the command of Assistant Chief Reynar, fully extinguished the flames in 1 hour and 18 minutes. No one was injured. The cause and estimated dollar loss remains under active investigation.
