Flames Damage Two Buildings in South Los Angeles

More than a hundred firefighters from two agencies worked collaboratively near the Los Angeles City / County border early Wednesday, to confine fast moving flames to a pair of unoccupied businesses. 

The Los Angeles Fire Department was notified at 3:55 AM on November 14, 2018 of an outside fire near 818 East Florence Avenue in the Florence area of south Los Angeles, where firefighters arrived quickly to find flames had extended to a pair of commercial buildings, including a one story automotive business, and a nearby two story structure. 
 
One hundred-ten Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, were soon joined by a complement of Los Angeles County Fire Department responders, all under the command of LAFD Assistant Chief Antoine McKnight; using defensive tactics to confine the intense fire to the two unoccupied structures, extinguishing the flames in just 49 minutes. 
 
There were no injuries.
 
Fire loss is still being tabulated. The cause of the major emergency fire remains under active investigation.
