Founded in 2010, the Fire Department Foundation has already funded equipment and technology for the LAFD. The foundation is led by a 15-member Board of Directors, businesspeople and community activists who volunteer their time and give generously of their philanthropic dollars to support the LAFD.
With the city budget in crisis, the need for the foundation’s support is great. Most of the city budget (96%) pays for salaries and benefits, leaving very little for all other expenses.
The safety of our city depends on a strong Fire Department. As we rely on them to protect us at work, at home, at school and at play, they should be able to depend on us for the support they need. They strive for preparedness and rapid response. When disaster strikes, as it inevitably will, we will turn to the Fire Department. Let’s be sure that they are ready.
At all times, every hour of every day, only 1,000 firefighters and paramedics are on duty. In 2010, the LAFD responded to more than 750,000 emergencies.
The foundation welcomes your participation and your tax deductible gifts. We also accept vehicle donations. Visit our website at www.supportlafd.org to learn more about the foundation and the wonderful men and women of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
