Crisis Response Team (C-R-T)
Volunteer Program

What is the Crisis Response Team?

The Crisis Response Team is a citywide volunteer program coordinated through the Mayor's Office.

As a volunteer member of the Crisis Response Team (C-R-T) you are activated by the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments to provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, emotional support and referrals to victims and their families involved in a traumatic incident such as:

  • Major Traffic Accidents
  • Homicides
  • Death Notification Assistance
  • Multi-Casualty Incidents
  • Drive-by Shootings
  • Natural Deaths
  • Fires
  • Suicides

How Can You Help?

There is a genuine need today for Crisis Response Team volunteers, especially those with diverse life experiences and multi-lingual skills. All volunteers receive the training necessary to provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, emotional support and referrals.

C-R-T should not be confused with the LAFD's CERT Program.

As a C-R-T volunteer, you may be summoned to crime scenes and disasters in or near your community. In doing so, you will free police officers, firefighters and emergency room personnel to resume their primary duties, while assuring that victims and survivors receive necessary crisis support.
