The Los Angeles Fire Department is a highly regimented agency that endorses paramilitary command principles. Ensuring oversight and command responsibility for a cluster of Neighborhood Fire Stations is a Battalion Commander, also known as a Battalion Chief.

The LAFD is divided into sixteen Battalion's each overseen by a single Battalion Chief at any given time.

• Battalion 2 - commanding Northeast LA, Dodger Stadium and the LA Zoo
• Battalion 3 - commanding South Central Los Angeles
• Battalion 4 - commanding LAX, West LA and Venice
• Battalion 5 - commanding Hollywood, Los Feliz and Griffith Park
• Battalion 6 - commanding the Harbor, San Pedro and Wilmington
• Battalion 7 - commanding East LA, Lincoln Heights and El Sereno
• Battalion 9 - commanding Westwood, West LA and Pacific Palisades
• Battalion 10 - commanding the Central San Fernando Valley
• Battalion 11 - commanding Central Los Angeles, Echo Park and the Miracle Mile
• Battalion 12 - commanding the Northeast San Fernando Valley
• Battalion 13 - commanding Watts and South Los Angeles
• Battalion 14 - commanding the Southeast San Fernando Valley
• Battalion 15 - commanding the Northwest San Fernando Valley
• Battalion 17 - commanding the Southwest San Fernando Valley
